As the news of making of feature film Gama, on the life and victories of the undefeated wrestler of Gama Pehlwan, The Great Gama or Rustam-e-Hind are taking hype, Shayan Khan, the producer of the film gets more enthusiastic for the project which is very dear and near to his heart.
With the excitement the producer and actor also feels responsibility on his shoulder to justify the expectations of people which are already very high since the announcement of the film, as Nasir Adeeb, whose recent playwright The legend Of Maula Jatt still making records globally is writing the script of Gama. Khan is also waiting for the response from the people for his film Money Back Guarantee, releasing on this eid-ul-fitr starring Fawad Khan, Wasim Akram and the producer himself.
Khan plans Gama to be completed and released in 2023 thus wants to put all his energies to his brainchild which he dreamt about from his childhood.
At the scripting stage, Shayan is eager to help the writer as much as he can, especially getting him the research material about the wrestler. He even narrated the story of Gama to him from the book by translating it in Urdu from English.
About his passion for Gama, Khan said why I discovered Gama as the topic of my film, as the legend was my childhood inspiration.
“I have been working out since a very young age, I am also fond of boxing, wrestling and fighting. So if you are a fight fanatic and follow the sports of boxing and wrestling then you eventually end up reading about Gama. When I started reading it, it made me more curious, who actually Gama was. He was just an ordinary man in the beginning, not like the one who was born with the abilities and privileges of a professional wrestler. He just from his power of mind built himself so strong that nobody could defeat him.”
Shayan also connects the effects of this inspiration on his overall life as he personally believes in the power of mind and relates it to religion as well which tells us that our strength lies in our soul.
“I believe anything is possible if you put your mind into it. But unfortunately we give least value to minds, thinkers and their ideas and visualisation. An underprivileged person in Pakistan can’t even think about what they dream about but they can lift their spirit up with the power of their mind.
The actor explained that his purpose to work in Pakistan was to tell the youth here that if a person like him, belonging to a middle class family, can become successful in the USA, then why can’t they be successful in Pakistan.
If I am in the Pakistani film industry today, it is just because I planned it for me. It was my dream to become a film star and to produce films as well. I even didn’t know how to reach there but as my mind was constantly there, God helped me too and made ways for me.
When asked who he thinks is perfect for the role of Gama, Shayan replied that it will be decided later as at the moment, he is just focusing on the script of the film.
