A court in Peshawar has announced a death sentence to accused Syed Muhammad Zeeshan in a case related to spreading blasphemous content on social media back in 2021. Judge Adil Khan of the anti-terrorist court in Peshawar read out his reserved verdict in the case on Friday in the Central Jail Peshawar.
In the verdict, the court held the accused will remain in prison for at least 23 years before facing the capital punishment. The court has also slapped 1.2 million rupees penalty to the accused. In case of failure, the accused has to stay in jail for additional 11 months.
The complaint in the case Muhammad Saeed lodged a complaint before FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing on 29th of October 2021. The Anti-Terrorist Court had reserved its judgement on 4th January 2023 after the completion of trial. The court had deferred the announcement of the verdict six times but finally it has announced the decision on Friday.
