Yet another horrifying act of violence against Ahmadis took place in Daska on 24th January 2024 at 10 am, where the police desecrated the tombstones of Ahmadi graves. The graveyard was allotted to the Ahmadiyya Community by the Government of Punjab.
The graveyard had 101 total graves out of which 75 had a tombstone. The police desecrated 65 of these. The policemen said they had orders from AC Daska, Anwar Ali Kanju.
AC Daska Anwar Ali Kanju has been involved in Ahmadiyya persecution for a long. The state needs to understand how officers like AC Daska give a poor name to the reputation and standing of Pakistan in the global community.
This is a condemnable and horrifying incident that can never be justified. It is time for the state to clarify what their policy on the desecration of Ahmadiyya graveyards is. The government must clarify under which laws the AC gave these orders.
In a similar incident today, the police desecrated another Ahmadiyya graveyard in Bharoke. They broke the tombstones and sprayed black ink on them. The question arises: if the police itself is involved in such incidents, to whom should Ahmadis go for the assurance of their constitutional rights?
HRCP Statement
In a press statement, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said “HRCP is alarmed by the desecration of Ahmadi graves, which continues unabated. The latest police action in Daska and Bharoke is against the rights enshrined in the constitution for any citizen of Pakistan irrespective of their faith. The state authorities must respect the constitution first and foremost.
